If a country falls and there are no liberals watching, did it actually fall?

Over at Politico, in the aftermath of the sacking of the Israeli embassy, Ben Smith writes:
After I filed, my editor and I were talking about how Egypt has faded from the radar -- how it has gone basically unmentioned, for instance, in the presidential debates -- but how likely a crisis there is to shape the course of the campaign or the next presidential term.
This statement ought to scare the Scheisse out of the reader. Smith is one of the smarter ones. He's well connected. Surely, he'll have been able to keep up with events in Egypt. Not so, it seems. If it's not above the fold, it's not news.

Take Away Point — Don't trust Ben Smith when he pontificates on NME matters.
